I want to share secrets to fast metabolism with you, but you have to promise me that you will do the followings everyday. They all look simple, but they are actually pretty challenging.

1. Drink at least 2 liters of water a day.
This is probably the most effective way to obtain fast metabolism. After a couple of days of constantly drinking 2 liters of water a day, everything you eat would come out very fast. You will experience your body responding soon enough. The water washes off all the remains that had been stuck in your stomach for years, which were impeding fast digestion, and flow of the food in the intestines. It opens up the way for the food you eat to get through your system much quicker before it even turns into body fat.

2. Spread your meals throughout the day.
It is much better to have 6 small meals than 2 big meals. So, eat a lot in small portions. Therefore, your stomach does not work for half an hour intensively and rest for a long time, but it gets your stomach working mildly the whole time.

3. Do not stop eating.
This is the most critical mistake that people make when they start a diet. This messes up your metabolism. So when you start eating again, it would accumulate everything that you eat in your stomach, so eventually your metabolism will be slower than ever. So keep on eating, but eat healthy. No junkies from now on.

If you think you are totally ready to keep on doing these three things as you promised, I think you are ready to move on to the next step.

Now, let us take a look at some exercises and meal plans for fast metabolism.

It's the insidious way it sneaks up on you but one day there you stand looking forlornly into the mirror wondering where that jiggly mass of flab that's hanging from your belly came from. Its starts there, the idea that it is time to get back in shape and get rid of that belly fat.

But where do you start? There are so many diet and exercise plans out there, not to mention all the fat burning wonder pill commercials you see on TV everyday. How do you know which way will work for you? You don't want to jump on the latest fat burning bandwagon only to fall off and not get the results you want.

Fortunately for you there is a fat burning machine built right into your body called your metabolism. If you can tap into its power you can lose that flabby stomach and create the body you've always wanted.

So how do you tap into this fat burning engine? It's not as hard as you think.

Your metabolism is the rate at which you burn calories. This can change through out the day depending on your activity level, what you eat, and what kind of overall shape you are in. If you are to get rid of that belly fat then you need to speed up your metabolism using the following two strategies.

Diet - The nutritional value of the food you choose to eat plays a large role in how fast your metabolic rate runs. It needs high performance foods such as protein, complex carbohydrates, fiber, and vitamins and minerals to function at its optimum level. Refined and processed foods full of simple carbohydrates (think sugar) are your metabolisms worst enemy because they are quickly and easily turned into fat stores as they are digested. Highly nutritious foods on the other hand take longer to digest which requires more energy in the form of calories.

Exercise - When you combine exercise with a healthy diet you can send your metabolism through the roof. Muscle is your most effective metabolism boosting tool. The more lean muscle mass you have the more calories you burn through the day. There are two important parts to any exercise program; cardiovascular exercise and some form of weight or resistance training.

Changing your diet and starting some sort of exercise program, even if it's only going for a walk every day or two, is the best way to increase your metabolism and get rid of the body fat. If you can get started and stick to it before long you will get rid of that belly fat that snuck up on you in the mirror that day.

Metabolism

Burning calories in food to produce energy is called metabolism. Between the ages of 30-40 your metabolism starts slowing down. Along with that, every ten years your body burns energy about 2 to 4 percent slower. Burning fewer calories causes more fat to be store. If you do nothing you become fatter and you begin feeling tired all the time. The add weight put more stress on you heart, knees, hips, and could raise you blood pressure.

The older we get the more muscle we lose and fat is gained. Muscle burns a lot of energy, our energy needs goes down as we lose muscle, and our metabolism slows. A metabolic slowdown is our own doing. We do lose some muscle as we age, but our inactivity causes most of the muscle loss. We become less active the older we get, with that we lose lean muscle. With less lean muscle, less active, and getting older. Our metabolism slows to a crawl.

What you can do about your Metabolism

Aerobic Exercise and Resistance Training

With exercise you can get your metabolism at a higher rate, so you burn calories long after you stop.

You can increase your metabolism rate, through the use of aerobic workouts and resistance training.

Muscles are the calorie burning engine that keeps you lean and healthy. The resting metabolic rate is based on your muscle mass. Simple the more muscles you have the more calories you burn. This will continue while resting or even sleeping. Person # 1 burns 1 calorie a minute and person # 2 burns 1.5 calories a minutes. Why? Because person # 2 has more muscle mass and you know muscles loves to eat calories.

Resistance Training builds long lean muscles which reduces the amount of body fat. The Resistance Training person has on average an 18% higher base metabolic rate than an inactivity person. One who does aerobic is 13% higher. This example states being active makes you healthier and fit than someone who is inactive. The inactive person's metabolism rate continues to a slow crawl, both the Resistance workout and aerobic increases.

Aerobic workouts should be done for a least 45 minutes to 1 hour with 1 day on 1 day off. Resistance workouts are done on the off days with about 30 minute for each set.

Changes Eating Habits

Do not eat large meals; the body can only burn some many calories per meal. Eat small meals so the body can burn all the calories for energy and not store them as fat. Smaller meals means you eat more often lets say every 2-3 hours. No in between snacks, cut out junk food (empty calories), no sugar (turns directly into FAT), cut back on salt (retains body fluids), and no dairy products. Except for Fish and chicken eat all other meats in small portions at meals.

Conclusion

Simple to understand:

1. Eat right Eat less

2. Workout more.

By consuming an assortment of foods that boost metabolism, you can burn fat faster than if you just stick to a normal diet. By boosting the metabolism, your body will digest faster, use energy more efficiently, and tap into it's own energy storage: fat deposits.

Foods That Boost Metabolism

- Water

OK, so it's not a food, but it is extremely important to keep your metabolism in full swing. It allows for easier digestion of food, and also aides in eliminating toxins from your blood. Not getting enough water can lead to salt levels rising, which is not good in any case.

- Spices

A trip to your local Indian restaurant can get your metabolism burning very fast. Many spices, including chilli, helps decrease fat in your body, and also control cholesterol. An active component to many spices, Capsaicin, helps your liver prevent fat from building up in your body. In fact, Capsaicin has been used in medicine quite extensively, including as an arthritis treatment.

- Fish

This is very important. Fish generally contains high amounts of the fatty acid, Omega-3. Tuna and salmon are particularly high in this extremely beneficial oil. Omega-3 affects the many different enzymes in your body that control your metabolism, and also lowers leptin levels.

- High protein foods

Chicken, lean beef, nuts, etc.. High protein foods take longer for your body to digest, and also more calories. This means you'll burn more body fat.

- High fiber foods

It's also important to get adequate fiber for similar reasons to protein. They take longer to break down, and aid in digestion.

Obviously, merely eating these foods won't make you instantly skinny. The best thing to do is to combine these things into a healthy diet, with a consistent exercise plan.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- A French study using mice suggests an experimental drug can protect against obesity and metabolic diseases associated with a high-fat diet.

The study, published in the journal Cell Metabolism, suggests the synthetic SIRT1 activator -- called SRT1720 -- boosts metabolism, improves glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity, and enhances exercise endurance.

The new chemical entity was used by researchers to activate the SIRT1 gene pathway in mice, boosting their metabolic levels.

"These results show that new synthetic SIRT1 activators can reproduce the positive metabolic effects that were previously demonstrated using resveratrol, a naturally occurring SIRT1 activator found in red wine," Dr. Johan Auwerx of France's Institut de Genetique et de Biologie Moleculaire et Cellulaire said Wednesday in a statement. "But unlike resveratrol, these new chemical entities target only the SIRT1 pathway, making them more selective and potent for achieving these metabolic benefits."

In leasing a 21,000 square-foot facility in Cambridge, Agios Pharmaceuticals has opened the world’s largest laboratory for cancer metabolism research, Agios officials reported. The facility is located in Forest City Enterprises’ University Park at MIT.

The field of cancer metabolism concentrates on cell growth within cancer cells, which rely on more nutrients than normal cells to survive, Agios reports. While the company’s initial plans draw on cell metabolism therapeutics related to cancer, it may also eventually apply to other fields, including diabetes, inflammatory, autoimmune and neurological diseases.

The company announced in July that it had secured $33 million in first round financing, for development of cancer metabolism-regulating drugs. The investment was co-led by Third Rock Ventures, Flagship Ventures and ARCH Venture Partners.

Agios Pharmaceuticals was founded by cell metabolism leaders Lewis C. Cantley, director of the Cancer Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and professor of systems biology at Harvard Medical School; Tak W. Mak, of The Campbell Family Institute for Cancer Research and The University of Toronto; and Craig B. Thompson, director of the Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania.

Do you realize that we burn calories while we sleep? The term “metabolism” refers to the body converting calories from food into fuel and using that fuel to power everything that occurs in the body, from the cellular level all the way up to the motor functions of our appendages. Calories are constantly being burned whether we are running, eating, sleeping, or simply sitting around breathing.

Obviously the more people exert themselves, the greater the calorie burning is. Ultimately, losing or gaining weight depends on whether the calories burned (metabolic rate) are greater or smaller than the calories consumed. Here are just a few simple tips to boost your metabolic rate that can be easily achieved by most everyone.

Intense intervals during workout: Increasing intensity causes your metabolism to shoot up both during the workout and stay higher for longer afterwards. It would be difficult for most of us to go at maximum speed and effort for an entire cardio workout, so going all out for a couple of minutes and then at a moderate pace for a few minutes and alternating that routine for the length of the workout would be the ideal setup. Some studies in Canada have shown that women who interval train lose more than 33% more fat than those whose entire exercise sessions are at a less intense level.

Increase protein intake: Some studies have shown that metabolism can almost double if a high-protein meal is consumed.

Increase muscle tissue: The sad truth is that the more muscle one has, the more calories the body will burn. Training to increase strength and building a few pounds of extra muscle will pay off big dividends in terms of speeding up your metabolic rate. Even the resting metabolic rate will increase if a few pounds of fat can be replaced by muscle tissue.

More frequent meals: Heck, some of us don’t even get the three square meals a day! That is a bad practice. The less frequently we eat, the more our metabolism slows down. You need to stoke that fire burning furnace, and consuming five or six small meals a day will accomplish that. Of course, that still means being vigilant with the total number of calories consumed. That can be more easily accomplished by selecting foods that are nutrient dense and calorie poor.

For those looking for some external help to boost their metabolism, here are a couple more suggestions. The caffeine in one cup of coffee can help a person burn 50 or so extra calories. Caffeine does not equate to more calories burned, but can cause jitters and possibly raise blood pressure. If one desires to drink more than one cup of coffee, make it green tea instead.  Green tea contains a polyphenol called EGCG, which has been shown to boost metabolism without negative cardiovascular effects.

Increasing the rate of your metabolism is the easiest way to speed up the rate at which you lose weight. There are people that wonder about turning this idea into reality and often don't because they don't think it's really possible. However the fact is it is possible to speed up the metabolism in your body. There are several things that can be done to give your metabolism a boost and this article hopes to go over them so that you can understand what you can do better but first you must actually understand your metabolism.

Metabolism is defined as how much energy you have available to you at any given time through the burning of fat calories, this causes the body to be working all the time. If you are not active then this rate is usually incredibly slow. So here are some things that you can do to boost your metabolism.

Exercise

When you do some form of exercise such as jumping up and down on a mini trampoline during those two minutes of commercials you can speed up your metabolic rate. The more you do it the more your metabolism will adjust to work faster and after a while this increase will be the normal rate of your metabolism. Any form of exercise involving strength training and cardio will give maximum benefits.

Walking

Walking on an inclined treadmill that is set at an angle of ten to fifteen degrees or up a hill either one will help with weight loss and the large oxygen deficit that it causes will speed up your metabolism. This oxygen deficit forces the body to burn fat for its energy needs immediately.

Water

Cold water can give a momentary boost of approximately eight to thirty percent when it is drunk cold.

You should know how many calories you take in during a day's time. You need to know this because you have to figure out how many calories you actually need to make it through your day. An easy way to do this is to take 11 times the amount you weight, 12 if you are more active. This isn't exact but it will be close. Use this figure for one to two weeks then adjust it to fit your weight loss goals and get results.

Eating more often is one of the easiest changes someone can make in their lives. This doesn't mean to eat more literally, it means to have more, smaller meals, and you should eat four to six meals a day as opposed to the three a day you were always taught. This is due to the fact that if the body is without food for a period of more than 3 three hours it will slow the metabolism to protect itself. When you eat at least every three hours the body is constantly breaking down the food and this helps keeps metabolism going and causes it to speed up.

Sleep is essential in speeding up metabolism to loose weight. A regular sleep schedule with at least seven to eight hours a night works best to help in your efforts and make them more effective.

Metabolism is the controlling factor in weight loss and learning to control the rate of metabolism will help with the ability to lose weight. These simple suggestions will make it easier to achieve this.

Here are some great info about foods that increase metabolism.

-------

There are foods that make you fatter and foods that make you skinnier. What's the difference? The foods that make you fatter take minimal energy to burn. They are immediately processed and stored as fat. Foods that make you skinnier are actually foods that speed up metabolism by using up more energy to digest them.

Negative Calorie Foods
These foods that speed up metabolism are called "negative calorie foods". Now, these foods do not have some magical properties to just erase the number of calories in your body and write a new, lower number. Wouldn't that be nice?

Instead, what these foods do is make your body work harder when digesting them. These foods possess a low amount of calories to begin with but are full of fibrous materials that the body cannot easily break down.

Burn More Calories
What this means is that your body creates more energy to turn the food into fuel (burns more calories) than the total amount of calories in the food to begin with. Thus, there is a negative amount of calories; you've used enough energy to burn off the calories of the food you ate PLUS some! Your body then has to use stored fat to convert into energy to finish the digestion process. In turn, you speed up your metabolism.

Did I lose you? Here's a specific example. We'll keep it simple.

Say you eat a half of a grapefruit that contains 40 calories and it takes your body 90 calories to digest it. You have used all 40 of the grapefruit's calories PLUS 50 calories from stored fat resulting in an overall calorie loss.

It works the opposite for most of us. We eat a decadent chocolate brownie that contains 175 calories but our body only uses 75 calories to digest it. We now have GAINED 100 calories to be stored as fat for later use. Problem is, unless you are exercising regularly to actually USE those calories, they're going to just sit there around your waist accruing like the interest of a retail credit card until one day it will hit you and you'll wonder, "where did this thing COME from?!"

So to get you started with negative calorie foods that speed up metabolism, I have created an extensive list consisting of mostly fruits and vegetables. Add these to your menu and you will begin to see and feel the natural changes in your body.

Salads - lettuce, carrots cucumber, broccoli, cauliflower, tomato, onion, and radish; go easy on the dressing. Use toppings like raisins or sunflower seeds sparingly.

Steamed veggies as a side dish -  broccoli, carrots, onion, cauliflower, cabbage, asparagus, green beans, spinach, zucchini; flavor with garlic.

Fruit cup -  strawberries, apple slices, cranberries, mango, orange, pineapple, raspberries, tangerine, papaya, grapefruit, cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon.

Smoothies - any combination of the fruits above mixed with ice or low fat frozen yogurt. Remember, you can also use these fruits in their juice form but fresh-squeezed is better than juice from concentrate.
